Order of Discharge for an asset case,is this in the right order?

    Hi,

I have talked with the assistant of the trustee and he wanted 9K USD in order for me to keep the car and in order not to go after one of the creditor who got preferential payment (I know this creditor and I do not want to cause him additional problems). We have negotiated the price and it was agreed that I will pay him 7K in a lump sum. That was last week.

I have checked my credit report and it says that I was discharged from the bankruptcy 5/19. I went to pacer and this is what I found:
    Under History:
Filed & Entered: 05/19/2010 Order Discharging Debtor
Filed: 05/21/2010 Entered:05/22/2010-BNC Certificate of Mailing - Order of Discharge

What should I do? Should I mail the check or should I wait? I have assumed that once I will mail the check, the trustee will report that he has managed to collect assets and than give the creditors 90 days to file a claim...

Once you pay the trustee, then the trustee will fill out a matrix that lists how that money is going to be distributed amongst your creditors. The creditors have 21 days to object to the distribution matrix. If no creditor's object, then the trustee writes up his/her final report and transfers the money to the court's payment account, and the money is distributed (minus the trustee's fees) to the creditors. The creditors have 90 days to cash the checks they get and if any creditor does not cash the check in 90 days, the money is redistributed to the other creditors. The case cannot close until all money has been paid out, all checks have cleared, and the trustee has filled out his final report, signed off and abandoned all other assets, and has been paid.

So your case cannot begin to close until you pay the trustee, etc.....
You can't take a picture of this. It's already gone. ~~Nate, Six Feet Under
