    Free Credit Report??

My husband and myself are begining the procedure for chpt 7. We just received the letter about what we need to gather. Within 12 mos we have already pulled a credit report. But due to the flood we had here it is gone. Is there a place where we can go to get another free copy or now do we have to pay?

do you need all 3 credit reports? if not, maybe you can get one of the ones you didn't get when you pulled a report the last time. remember, you can get each of the 3 reports (experian, equifax, or transunion) once every 12 months for free. so if you got only one of them within 12 months, you can get another one free before the 12 months are up.

well, one option is to sign up for one of those credit-tracking things where you pay monthly, but they often give you a first month free and you can cancel within that month and never pay. i got my credit report and score through myfico this way. then i cancelled the subscription before 30 days were up and never paid a cent. you just have to remember to cancel...

Go to annualcreditreport.com. You are entitled through that site to obtain a free copy of all three of your credit reports and can do so every year thereafter. We do it every year and just got the notice that we are eligible to get them again for free. If you when through them previously to get your free reports (you don't indicate how you got them), you won't be able to obtain them until one year has passed from your initial request).

So sorry to hear about the flood

Since you already pulled your free credit report for this year, there are two alternative to get additional copies of your credit reports from the three credit agencies.

You can sign up for a free 30-day trial for credit monitoring (multiple companies offer this online - try a Google search using "30 day trial credit monitoring" as the search terms). Once you sign up, you can access your credit reports (although not the credit scores) online. Just be sure to turn the service off before your 30 days are up!

You can also go to each of the three credit agencies online and pay for their report. Here's a link to contact information for all three credit agencies - http://www.fightidentitytheft.com/credit_bureaus.html

You may not need all three reports - ask your lawyer what he/she advises.

I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.
