Pacer - Client Code???

Hi all,

I signed up to get a Pacer account and I have my user name and password. I just wanted to check out the status of my B/R.

Would anyone know what a client code is?

I don't know, but I leave it blank and have no problems logging in.

You can ignore a Client Code. It's usually only for Lawyers to use.

Let's say that a lawyer has 2 clients..."peters73" and "SMinGA". He wants to keep track of how much $$ is racked up for each person. So, he puts in "peters73" as the client code when looking up cases for peters73, and he puts in "SMinGA" client code when looking up cases for SMinGA.

That way, he can do a report that says:
peters73: $11.52
SMinGA: $8.30

Some lawyers bill their clients for PACER charges, and the "Client Code" is just something to keep client charges separated.

OK I read this and still have no idea what a client code is.

But as the previous post said you can log in just fine without it. Just a word of warning not to get too addicted to Pacer or you'll get a bill for an amount you didn't intend.

Thanks all, I was able to access the site. I had to go through the Pacer site and find the court. The court site wouldn't let me in, lol. Yep, everything is going well with my case. Thanks

Client code is used for billing purposes. You as an individual, have no concern for it, for it does not apply to you.

When using pacer as a business service, you use a code in this position in order that you know who to charge for the services at the end of the month. A complete pacer report would be downloaded with billable pages, and then billed to the customer.
