I've run into yet another puzzle. On the B1 form, there is the question about "own or have possession of any property...identifiable harm to public health and safety." I own an expensive shotgun worth $700-800, but in reality, it is only half mine as BF and I split the cost--but by law it is mine as my name is on title. Now, I will certainly admit to owning it, but it is hardly a threat to public safety as it is locked in a gun safe to which I do not have the combination. Should I just check "Yes" on that box and then explain the situation via extra page? And on the B and C schedules, do I list 100% ownership--seems kind of expensive and I would rather use BF's share elsewhere in my exemptions, or can I list 50%, and again explain the circumstances. I am kind of thinking that, because I am 100% on title, I have to declare 100% ownership.
As always, any thoughts on this are greatly appreciated.
