    back taxes?

Is it possible to have back taxes wrote off in the bankruptcy? I just received a bill from the IRS - saying we owe 600 dollars from 2006 or 2008- I cant remember the year for sure... Can this be included in a chapter 7?

    thanks

See the "sticky" on federal taxes. Chances are you cannot discharge them, there's several "rules" that have to be met for them to be dischargable. The info on the sticky spells out the situation.

If you owe the IRS back taxes and you do not meet the standard to have them discharged contact the IRS and work out installment payments after your BK is discharged. Or before discharge if you are not filing for quite a while. Believe it or not, the IRS is very cooperative when you contact them and will make reasonable payment arrangements with you. They can not collect from you during your BK so contact them when you are discharged. Note, I have found the local office to be much more 'user friendly' then the phone bank.

Hope the $600 bucks is older than three years. This can be discharged. I missed out by days. I ended up owing 27K and I have it down to only 17K. I pay $400 a month out of my SS. Yes our new start has to work that does not leave much left, but we don't have many bills. 'Hub
