I feel bad about GMAC too, as a taxpayer and with friends in Detroit

Walktheplank, reading your post, I just remembered while I was signing my papers, that my attorneys wife said they had a case where the UST was challenging some poor lady about her son as a dependant, and the Joe was planning on taking on the UST, on his own nickel, to establish case law that trumps that argument. Not sure where he is with it

It does seem to be horrible public policy to tell people they can't support their unemployed/underemployed adult children who live with them (especially students) and, most especially, elderly parents. Isn't it better they be supported by family than by the government? And, don't we want to encourage kids to finish college?

I guess these guys don't remember when it was very common for families to live together. I remember growing up and a lot of my parents' friends and families had the parents living with them. Kids also stayed home until they got married.

With the economy the way it is, I tihnk we will see a lot more of that.
