Hello, in the last 6 months i've made about 9k as a server at applebee's(all tips declared). I moved to las vegas to get a poker dealer job, I got one for the World series of poker. I will make a bunch of money in a month and 1/2 time, like $8000. then I will be out of work again. its only once a year for 6 weeks. If the money puts me over the means test, will I just have to wait or is it explainable in BK hearing?

For a family size of 1, the Nevada median annual income is $46,151. If you made $17,000 in the previous 6 months, you would still be under the median. Other states' median incomes vary, but you'll probably be under the median whatever state you file in.Filed Chapter 7 July 2010

Sounds to me that as long as your income for the 6 month look back is no more than $23K, you're fine. I would check on the exact definition of the look back. It seems that it is the last 6 months preceding the last first day of the month encountered, or IOW the last 6 complete months, not counting the current month of the filing.
Being a wait servant and a dealer are rather unreliable jobs, so you should not have a problem.
