    I am filing tomorrow \^_^/

I can't wait. I am hoping the calls from collection will stop very soon after. The paralegal told me that it should be very quick, as the filing is electronic. She also told me to not waste my money on Pacer, that they are always on Pacer and if I need any info from it to ask them and they can get it to me free of charge. Anything I should know ahead of time? The paralegal says that my case is easy-shmeesy, and should be discharged in less than 6 months.

If you want to monitor the status of your case, you might go ahead and get an account on Pacer just to retrieve the updated docket. But as the saying goes - most people don't want to know how to make sausage.

I wouldn't waste money retrieving actual documents though, because the attorney on the case gets a free 'look' for each document filed electronically for each notification email address that is listed in his/her ECF account.

I actually list my email address, my partner's email address and both staff members' email addresses - that way if I look at something and forget to save it, I have three more free looks to use :-)

Oh no, I want to know how to make the sausage!! But just from the little reading I've done on here I don't want to get addicted to Pacer and be checking it everyday.
If I want to monitor the status of my case is that free, or is it just the actual retrieving of documents? I am still a bit fuzzy on this Pacer thing.

Pacer charges 8cents per page returned, including search page lengths. What you do to monitor your case is login, click on 'Query' at the top, enter your case number 'find case', then search. A list of links will come up. click on the 'docket' link then click Search (the default is all dates.)
You'll see a docket that lists every document filed in your case and the status of them.
If you want to know the various deadlines, instead of clicking on docket click on 'hearings' and the default should be 'due/set' so click search and it will list all of your deadline dates.

The results are 8cents per page so it's probably just 8c per search page result in your case. If you check on a chapter 11 case that's been going for years, it'll cost you 50c-$1 for just the docket listing.
For a trademark infringement case, I was retrieving documents in one of the defendants' other cases where they did something similar to use as evidence in this one. My Pacer bill that just hit my card was $93. Whew - gotta watch it.

Thank you, BKDefender, that helps a lot... and I finally filed today!! ^_^ I feel a sense of relief, and a strange sense of doom as well... Maybe it is the upcoming 341 that I am dreading? My attorney assures me that mine is a very straightforward case and he would be surprised if there are any objections... still nervous, though.

Oh well... at least I got the ball rolling.

Same feelings here Lee, actually I was feeling this way for the last few days since filing. My lawyer says shouldn't be any problems, his paralegal (who has worked for the local trustees for the past 11 years) says we should be fine but I still worry. Guess I will until it's over.

It's funny when you go through the "BK process", you stress out, then you file/go to the 341/wait 60 days, then wonder, "what did I stress out about???" If your attorney says you have a "straighforward case", then try to relax a little...it's just a process and your attorney seems to know what he/she is doing

Hang in there, it'll be over before you know it
