Is student financial aid considered income?

Getting ready to file Ch 7. Doing it myself by using Nolo book. I am a full time student and I receive fiancial aid via grants and student loans. I cant seem to find any info on if I need to claim that as income. I am also on unemployemnt ( its a special training training program for dislocated workers in Oregon). My spouse works part time and gets unemployment part time. There is always money left over fromt he grants and loans after the tuitiona nd feees are paid and the school gives the rest to the studnets to use for our other expesses ( it is considered a small living allowance). Do i need to put that down as an income? Has anyone ever experienced something like this?

Idk either. See my post under the "nolo" sticky. I included the grants but not the loans and put a continuation sheet explaining. I'm pro se as well. I have not gone to the creditor's meeting. I will let you knwo if it blows up in my face.

Anything left over that is given to you is considered income. I just filed chapter 7 and had to give all of my extra money from school to my lawyer's fees. When you file your taxes it will ask what you made from loans and grants so you have to list this on your BK.
      Chapter 7 filed on 4/23/2010
      341 meeting on 5/28/2010
      Discharged on 8/19/2010

        Thanks for the input :-)

Thanks guys for your input. I did check out a Nolo book @ the library. I cant seem to find anything yet about the student aid. But I havent read the whole thing yet eaither, lol. But what an awessome book! I am so happy I found it. I did ask a lady I met who is a retired legal assistant for a bankruptcy attorney. She is the one who did all the paperwork when clients filed ( poor legal assitants. They do all the work and the lawyers get all the glory!). She told me that I do have to put down the loans, but not the grants.

        lezlovin,
I will go look at your post. I am new here and not to sure how to find things yet. I will do my best to find it.
