Account being sued for is NOT on any of my credit reports!!

OK, so I just went and got my 3 free annual credit reports-the credit card account # that I am being sued for shows up NOWHERE on any of my reports. I did have an account with the same credit card company but the account numbers do not match up at all-also the default date that the summons has is over a year LATER than the default date stated on my credit reports. Is this enough to have my case dismissed??? I am thinking about calling the collection agency/law firm myself tomorrow and telling them they have the wrong person. Also-I have been unemployed for 3 years but all 3 agencies show I am currently employed. Maybe that is why they decided to sue? They think they have wages to garnish when in fact they don't have anything they can take. Hmmmmmm....

Actually the CR may or may not have all of your accounts.
The account numbers on your CR are usually truncated for privacy reasons.

Having said that, go to www.creditinfocenter.com in the forum section under "Is there an Attorney in the House" and look up how to fight this suit so you don't end up with a judgment. There is a method there where you elect arbitration thru JAMS or AAA and it essentially puts a stop to the suit. Read up on it and the successes various posters have had with it.
