Does anyone know what happens to my Bank Debit Card during a BK? If it has a zero balance do I need to report it? Can I keep using it? Will the Bank close my account?
A debit card takes money out of your account. The credit card lets you "owe" the money. Therefore your debit card is not listed on the BK schedules because you do not "owe" on it.
Most banks will not close your accounts when you file BK. The few exceptions seem to be credit unions, if you owe them money on other things because they have a cross-collateral thing going on.
As long as you do not "owe" on your account (meaning you don't have overdraft protection that allows you to pay it later), you should be fine.
