Military (AAFES) Star Credit Card

Hello;

We are thinking of Filing a Chapter 7 (vs. Chapter 13) and would be including a rather large debt with the Military Star Credit Card that is backed by the federal government. Does anyone have any experience with whether or not it can be Discharged in BK.

Aafes/Military Star Card and USAa in Chapter 7

Has anyone gone through with a Chapter 7 and included the AAFES/Miltary Star card and USAA? I have 2 auto loans with USAA and I am current but I want to include one of the loans in the BK, is this possible and my husband also has a cc with them and will include that also. Foe the Military Star card we have a total of 2 cards and it's current and I want to include both of the cards in the Chapter 7 also. Is this possible? Has anyone gone through this?

I included the Military Star card in my BK7, but that was 6 years ago so things may have changed.

We have USAA. It’s a shame we have to include them in our BK because they always provided us good service. But I suspect not any more.

I can let you know what to expect in about 90 days...

I really didn't want to include them but can't afford two auto loans only one. I don't plan on filing til October or sooner and my attorney told me to stop paying the one I want to surrender. If you don't mind me asking, how long did you stop payment on your loan? Same with the Military Star card, they want me to stop paying but I'm kinda scared after reading all the post throught the web.

I was told they do notify your command but he is in the reserve so I'm not sure how strict the reserve are. But I know when he was active army his unit announced if they don't pay their bills then they will step up.

Hi Joe,
If you don't mind me asking, how long did you stop paying them? The firm I hired told me to stop paying even though I don't plan on filing til the end of October. I'm a little scared of not paying but at the same time it's kind of dumb of me to pay when I'm going to include them in the BK.
