OK to donate stuff to Goodwill after filing?

    Hi all,

I filed for BK in March, my 341's in May. I'm moving to an apartment pretty soon, and would like to donate some stuff to Goodwill so I don't have to pay movers to move it.

It's junky stuff like old Christmas decorations, books, curtains, cheap end tables, etc. Is it OK to donate it? Or do I have to keep it for the trustee? None of it is worth much, but I want to make sure I do this right...

I promise the trustee doesn't want that stuff.

Are you sure? I dunno, that one quilted wreath with the puffy snowman that plays "Jingle Bells" when you press his nose is pretty sweet...

Thanks! I was pretty sure that was the case but didn't want to take any chances.

Your "junky" Christmas items are not worth much at all and probably would sell at a garage sale for $2.00 for a big box of stuff. It is OK to take items like those to Goodwill or even, if you wish, put a free ad on Craigslist and put them up by your curb for anyone interested to come and haul away. There are lots of really poor people who cannot afford even Goodwill prices...
