Back Taxes - Problem with Accountant

I need to file a Chapter 7 but I owe my accountant money for preparation of some tax returns for past years that she has prepared and I have to pick up and mail. If I file BK, what I owe her will be included in the BK. The problem is that if I ask for the supporting documentation (W2s etc) back, she will suspect that I plan to include her fee in the BK and will likely hold on to my original documents. Technically, she would have held on to them in case they were needed for negotiations with the IRS.

I don't know what to do. I need the supporting paperwork back!

Also, I will probably have to find another accountant to deal with the IRS because this one charges and arm and a leg - no - it's more!

    Any ideas?

You don't have any copies of anything you gave to her? W2's normally come in duplicate/s so that you have a copy for yourself and the varying tax entities.

She didn't give you copies of the previous years tax returns for your file at home?

Of course I have copies of the returns already filed - along with the related W2s. However, there is such a thing as "additional supporting tax documents", e.g. property tax statement!

No need for the exclamation :-) In your original post you stated she had your W2's..it made it sound like you didn't have copies of anything.
