    On google now great....!

I had my 341 april 1st which went well by the way ! Anyway I googled my name and the court schedule shows up with my 341 chapter 7 hearing time and date. Really sucks I know it's public record but still sucks. I'm in Seattle any words of wisdom on getting this thing off the first page of google?? Was not anticipating this at all. Thanks in advance......

I'd guess it varies by district. I'm not aware of mine (MA) making anything like that indexable by search engines. I just tried some Google searching various things about my case (full names, case number, etc.) and nothing about my case turns up at all.

That really sucks. I just googled my husband's name since he's the one filing and nothing came up.
        Filed Ch.7 on 03/17

Yeah - it does vary by district and it does suck. Ticktrace: you're right with us in the Western District of WA and they feel the need to publish all the 341 info online. We were on page 1 of Google for quite awhile. We're 7 months post-discharge now, but it's still coming up. (On page 4 of the results now.)

Thank's for the response, I see there are companies that supposedly can get you knocked backed to page 2 or more but they charge and I don't know much about them. I guess they get positive info out there that bumps your court notice down the list. I miss the old days......

Certainly your decision, but I wouldn't spend any money on that. Even if they get you pushed to page 2 or 3, that doesn't stop someone from looking for you past page 1.

Our feeling was this: If someone sees that we filed and looks down their nose at us, we didn't need them in our life anyway. Until they walk a mile in your shoes, they have no business judging you.

                Best of luck.

Also note that if your newspaper publishes BK filings your name will also pop up on Google for filing BK. Unfortunately, like arrests, marriages, divorces, etc., BK is public information and can easily get out on the internet. In today's online world, I don't think there is too much you can do to control it except not file.

There are a few things you can do. It all depends on how badly you want it removed:

                    1. Publish many posts on generic or professional forums (that have a lot of traffic) with your name at the bottom of the post. This might push the website with the bk link down.

                    Use the following option caution:

                    2. If you are a little bit technical, use a tool like XRummer (Or have someone do it for you) to post many links to the website that post the bankruptcy information. Google will most probably block this website. By doing this, all of the results related to this website will disappear for at least 6 months.

I don't go by my given name. I use a variant-nickname. So if people saw my full name on Google or in the paper they probably wouldn't connect it to me. I'm hoping, anyway.

Perhaps knowing what you'll say to people who find you will help relieve some of the stress?

"Thanks for your concern. It means a lot to me that you're interested in my life. I'm not comfortable discussing this, but if it's really important to you I'll try to answer your questions."

                      Good luck to you.

Someone else created a thread like this recently. I think some advice given to them was to try to look it up on a different computer instead of your own and you will see that it is buried further down because your computer "remembers" what you type in most.....so check another computer and see if it pops up so readily. Fortunately I have a very common name.....
