What if you forget a creditor when you file?

I thought I read somewhere that a bankruptcy filing covers all debts before the filing, even those that were not submitted at the filing time.

    Is that true?

If you forget to list a creditor, can he come back to haunt you?

hmm so this creditor wasn't on any of your credit reports or it was from a collections company who bought it? If so, you can file an amendment to add that creditor just so you make sure it gets discharged.

What state are you? I believe you are still ok regardless if they are listed or not. I am not positive though.

          What was the debt for?

            I haven't filed yet.

The question is what if I forget about a creditor when I file and then the creditor approaches me after the filing.

Does the bk filing cover creditors which were not listed when filing?

Yes, in the state of WI they are included, listed or not.

In Ohio the paralegal actually said to me "any debt you incurred since the day you were born" because we're a no-asset case. Best case scenario is amend and add them, but you should be covered either way.
