We had $98,748 in assets (mostly accounts receivable that will never be paid) and had $596,095 in loans, much of which was a mortgage and HELOC on a foreclosed-on house, and my wife's student loan (which wasn't discharged) -- then other miscellaneous things, like medical bills, back taxes (also not discharged), personal loan from family (will still repay), etc.

We have $40K in unsecured credit card debt, $10K car loan, and $15K in student loans(which I know won't be discharged, not that I care)
No assets, and $10K under the median income(that is including student loan disbursements as income as well.)I am not an attorney and any advice given is simply opinion based on my personal experiences. Always ask an attorney before making legal decisions.
