It's probably generally prudent to keep your assets (e.g., bank account) in a separate institution from any liabilities (e.g., loans) before filing.

I would definitely open a checking account at another bank.

        Hi, Sara
We didn't file yet, but will be doing a 13 end of the month or begining of April & the 1st thing our lawyer told us to do was open a checking account at a bank where we don't have any debt owed. He said never have assets where you have debt. I took his advice & opened a new account right away.
        Good luck

Credit Unions particularly, will freeze your accounts as well as closing down online access. Ours was kind enough to open the online and release any overdraft by my request as I intended to reaffirm. This is a rare case though. 'Hub

Keep in mind that it may take a payroll cycle or two to get payroll to deposit over to the new institution, so plan your BK filing accordingly.
