Just wondering, or if that is somehow bad or reported in some way. I was thinking of this in relation to when you file it is what you have at that moment, not between that time and discharge, right?

You are free to buy anything you like. Of course, the question is where you are getting the cash to support the spending. Obviously to be going through a Chapter 7, your regular income has to be below the median. This means that the only place you could logically get cash from would be your retirement accounts.
Now with all that said, it sure would look better if you would act like a pauper.

If you're filing Chapter 7 the key dates are your filing and discharge dates. What you do before filing will receive scrutiny, but anything you spend after that point is pretty well fair game. The trustee is not looking at your banking activity after your filing date. You can't just put life on hold from filing to discharge, but many folks seem to think that is what is expected. In most cases, any money you earn after filing is yours to spend as you see fit. There are exceptions for inheritances or other windfalls but generally your earnings can be spent at the local grocery store, or just as easily an online retailer such as eBay.
If on the other hand you are looking to sell on eBay, you should get the trustee's permission to sell any assets, exempt or otherwise, before discharge.Case Closed > 2/08/2010
