    something screwy happened

when we finalized the petition today.

DH opened a credit card with US Bank back in July, they approved him for 5k and he received the card in the mail. He activated it, but never used it, not once.

Today it showed up with a $633 balance, even though in the beginning of February the balance was 0. I was so confused and kind of sick to think maybe someone stole it! But when I came home it was still sitting in the file cabinet, I called the 800 number on the back and it said "zero balance". What the heck?

It was IIB, but now I'm worried it will affect my banking. We have US Bank for checking, savings, and our mortgage. Should I be worried?

never happened to me. are you sure that's the card that showed a $633 balance? maybe you made a mistake? you could call the 800 number and talk to a person just to verify. however, i wouldn't worry about it.

The report that the paralegal pulled showed the balance, I've never even seen a statement from them because we've never used the card. It has to be an error. I'm not worried about the card, I don't need or want it open.

I AM worried about my checking account because it is the same bank. Paralegal said because the stay is in affect today then I have nothing to worry about. Well no they can't access my checking to take money, but can the bank get pissed for me defaulting on one of "their" credit cards? Do banks close accounts that are in good standing because of a bk?

Mine did not touch my accounts even though we BK'd a CC with them. I suppose different banks could have different rules, or different disclosures about cross- collateral agreements.
All posts are opinion only- I am not an attorney.

This crappy thing is, I switched banks last month to avoid cross-collateralization and went to this new bank because I didn't owe them any money. LOL
