Standard Legal makes self-help law simple! Do-it-yourself legal forms software or document preparation services. Easy-to-use. Save time and money!

Anyone heard of them or used them?

Well I used them; cost about $30 to download the form/software. Here's the situation. When at the 341 meeting the trustee asked me if I had help in completing my form -- I answered no but, that I used this software I purchased on line and completed everything myself. Well, he stated that that software is considered assistance and I had to supply him with the actual name, address and telephone number of the company. I did. Yesterday I got a letter stating that The Standard Legal Network has to send a represetative to court on January 17, 2006 because THEY failed to sign and provide their information on the petition and disclose the receipt of a fee from me. It also talks about them being subject to several fines of up to $500.00 each.

I'm at least a litle confused. Has anyone else had this experience? Are there any implications to me and/or my case? Any advice?

I think Overkill might be the word here. You bought software, not anything different from buying a Nolo book (or borrowing one from the library).

Not sure what to suggest though. I imagine the company has attorneys in place to make sure they are NOT giving illegal/legal advice and are only supplying forms, etc.
Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

After almost 4 years from the OP you come in and post this disclaimer??

I understand where you are coming from, but it doesn't look good it looks BAD... 4 years to put together a paragraph??

Of course.... but if you wouldn't have replied, it would have stayed buried under 4 years of threads and nobody would have ever known it existed.

We found this posting today, so we replied.

Lets see how quick those links to the company get zapped by the mods.

From the peanut gallery, if this issue was resolved four years ago, to relieve the poor original poster, and the company is going out of their way to post an official response here when they uncovered this thread... my hats off to them. Too many try to avoid issues or pretend they didn't read something.

Besides, it's not the responsibility of companies to troll these forums or other such areas. I'm using an attorney, but I found the response commendable by this company, if I ever sought such software. (Again, I'm assuming the original poster was helped years ago...).

And no, I am not an employee of this company!

Kind of looks like free advertising to me.

I do think the advertising link should be zapped but the post left as it is. If they found it by doing a search, someone else who might be looking for information on their service could conduct the same search. If they've fixed the glitch, that's good to know for potential customers.

I purchased their "software" and it was fairly useless. The instructions are vague and limited and not all the forms are fillable. This product is NOT software. It is just a bunch of pdf forms which anyone can get on the internet. The instructions were not detailed at all and provided more questions than answers. I immediately requested my money back and it was refused. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau about them. I'm sure nothing will come of it, they will go on taking advantage of financially vulnerable people like me.
