Can a person file electronically pro se?

Just curious if their is an option to file an emergency skeleton petition online in SC that someone may know about. I really would like to not miss any work to go file Thursday morning since I am only a month into the new job.

You probably can, I just don't know the procedure, and everything varies from state to state and even by district in which you are filing.

You can file by mail. Make sure that you have 'Delivery Confirmation', 'Certified Mail' and the green card that gets signed and returned to you, on your package. Keep every single receipt and card in your BK file. This VERY important. You will get a receipt via snail-mail with your case number , and this can take two-three days, depending on how the dates with the calendar falls.

OR, you can take your paperwork and drive into the courthouse and turn it in, in person. THIS is what I would do if I was in your situation. The clerk stamps your paperwork that it was 'received', you get your Case Number right then, and a receipt that you turned your paperwork in.

As always, keep your copies and receipts in your BK folder if you have to get to them quickly.

Please don't just throw everything into an envelope; get a three-ring binder and appropriate sized page protectors and organize your papers. You will be SO glad you did.

My VERY best wishes go to you ~~~~

Actually, I do not think a pro se individual can file electronically. There is actually a course that attorney's (and their staff) must take in order to use the ECF (electronic case filing) system. ECF is actually different than PACER.
