We filed on Thurs 2/25... How long does it take

How long does it take for crditors to be notified? Capital One put my auto loan with Ascention Capital (their bankruptcy dept) by today. When we filed, the mailing matrix was inadvertently omitted and the court called Friday and told us to mail it to them. They received it today.

Called CapOne Auto to make payment and the recording told us to call this other #. I did and they told me they had no idea what I was talking about. They told me to call back in 2-3 weeks. CapOne (had to go roundabout to get to a person) said the account was in bankruptcy so to send CapOne the payments (I am current), but acct was assigned to Ascention.

Somehow I just can't see how CapOne would have gotten this info in 2 days to transfer this to their bankruptcy dept (agency, whatever) and the mailing matrix was just received today.

Do I need to be concerned that someone else is using my info (SSN etc) and has also filed for bankruptcy? CapOne cannot tell me neither can Ascention.

The case number will be generated instantly but it will take a few days....even up to 2 weeks for all of the creditors to be notified. Some are notified electronically and some don't have that capability which is why you are probably seeing the difference in times.

So there is no reason to be concerned that someone else is using my identity? Because like I said, there should be no way that they could have had this and processed it by Monday @ 8am unless it is totally electronic and they pull from a file of SSN. Right?

They get the info electronicly. My account was disabled about 2 days after we filed.

Certain creditors can request that the bankruptcy court send them notices electronically. The BNC (Bankruptcy Notice Center) sends out notices between a few days to a week after filing, so if they get notices electronically they could find out in only a few days.
