does anyone wait for 1099s to file????

I haven't gotten any. My taxes are ready to go otherwise.
Aren't these forms supposed to be sent out by the end of Jan?

Yes, they are! I received mine on February 1st of this year. I received a 1099-A due to the foreclosure of my rental property that was IIB (included in bankruptcy).

Was it a rental or business property, or just residential? If it's residential you could probably file and then do an amended later since it shouldn't affect your taxes. I say "shouldn't" because if you included it in a bankruptcy, you'd just do the whole Form 982 thing if there were any tax implication.

Personally, I would wait. I would also seek help with taxes this year, because some of that 1099-A/C business is complex, although my TurboTax seemed to handle it fine.

You may want to wait, is my suggestion. Yes, you can always file a 1040X, but I don't know any impact on your State's personal income taxes, if your State has those.

              Nope. No state income tax.
Accountant said to ask Attorney, he just returned the call saying, no need to wait.
              Green light, go!

              Thanks justbroke.

My bankruptcy was discharged June '09 and we let the house go. I went ahead a filed my taxes and guess what showed up the next week, a 1099A. Just got of phone with lawyer and he said to just do a 982. So I will amend them once Turbo tax lets me do it. It won't affect them at all.
