Need new tires...Can I pay a person from Taxes?

I am scheduled to file in a week. I have received my tax refund and it is going to pay my property taxes, start up an Educational Savings, and open a Roth IRA. My question is, I found someone selling barely used tires for my car in a car forum. They are significantly lower priced that any tire business has. He wants me to pay him via paypal. Can I buy them from him? They are $875 for (4) bridgestone RunFlats. Will this bring up a red flag and look like an insider payment??? I am going to Firestone to get my wife new tires (cause I can't find a deal like this on barely used ones), and I don't want to look suspicious...Thanks

Make sure you have all of your records and receipts in case something does come up. You are allowed to do all the things you described in your post. You do have to pay your taxes, take care of your legitimate expenses and maintenance matters. Getting good tires falls in that category.

My concern on the 'Barely Used' tires, is just how 'barely used' are they? Will you get any kind of warranty as you would from a dealer? Also, I am sure you know that you have to run the tires on the same wheels on your car as they came off the other car.

    Good luck!

      Thanks for the reply.

No, there is no warranty. The seller states the tires are have very low miles less than 1K. He bought new rims for his car so he is selling his OEM factory wheels and tires to me for a steal $875. Each tire on tire rack costs $300 alone. I will just jack the car up and put them on.

Also, got a violation letter from my homeowners association about my landscaping in front of my house. Can I use part of the refund to relandscape?

Landscaping is part of your homeowner's maintenance. Just don't go nuts on it.
