Creditor calls before filing - eek

I have stopped payment on all credit cards as of the first of the year. I now have 4 companies calling me non stop on my personal line and at my place of employment. I have gotten a new phone for my personal line but kept the old number active and one silent - all calls eventually hit my voicemail. This has worked well. But how the heck do I get them to stop calling me at work? i send those direct to voicemail but the phone is ringing off the hook and my superior actually noticed and said something.

    How do I handle this?

You advise them you are not allowed to receive phone calls at work and to cease immediately. They'll comply.
Well, I did. Every one of 'em. Mostly I remember the last one. The wild finish. A guy standing on a station platform in the rain with a comical look in his face because his insides have been kicked out. -Rick

Yep just tell them to stop and remove you work number from the computer. I had to be transfered to a supervisior to do this because some little turd on the phone told me I had to submit the request by mail!! Not true. I also told thm if you keep calling me at work I will lose my job and good luck on getting any money out of me then!

Take a look at (c) on http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/15/1692c.html and at (a) on http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/15/1692c(a)(3).html and at (a) at http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/15/1692k.html -- there'll probably be some good material there for you to use.
