I have a question regarding the means test. Is there somewhere online where you can do one free? We were hoping to file in the next 4 months so our 6 month would be lower due to excessive OT lately to keep up on bills but with a surprise bonus being given out next week that is going to take us well over the median. I can't say for sure about the bonus amount because its always surprising, but now that puts us in a weird position so if you cant qualify for chapter 7 by the median you can still qualify if you pass the means correct? My attorney wants to see all our documents first but I was just wondering if we could possibly do a means at home to see if we qualify. He said worse case we would be bumped into a Chapter 13.

There is no 100% accurate means test online. Do get an accurate means test you need to already know how to do the means test; the form is not that instructive.

The fact is, if you have disposable income, you have disposable income. No amount of waiting, planning, etc. is ultimately going to change that. If you are over median income, you need out of the ordinary secured expenses or medical expenses to pass the means test.
