Tax Refund Question What can't I buy?

    Good Afternoon All,

I will be filing my bk in the next couple weeks and just got my tax refund. My lawyer said she can exempt my tax refund which is a little under 5k. My question is what can't I buy. I need to get my daughter a new mattress and box spring because they are falling apart. Will this be a problem. Also is it a problem to pay my utility bills as well. I don't own a car or any property.

    Any advise would be appreciated.

On the mattress and box springs...probably not a problem.

Catching up on utility bills, probably a good idea. Better to file being current on utils.

Other things that you can use it for.....any medical/dental/vision expenses you have. (Check-ups, new glasses/contacts, teeth cleaning etc...)

Reasonable new clothing and shoe purchases.

Stocking up on groceries, and household supplies (T.P., cleaning stuff, laundry soap, shampoo...)

I agree. Stock up on necessities and get your daughter a bed.
