Filing C7 in Washington State....your thoughts?

First let me start off with what seems to be the standard introduction: new here but have been lurking around this forum for a while and am grateful for all the information people post on here. Thank you!

I have a couple of questions I'm hoping to bounce off the community here. Basically I need some experienced advice.

    1. Has anyone here filed pro se in the Seattle area (King County)? If you have, what was your experience like? Looking back, you would still have gone pro se?

    2. I had a friend who 4 years ago filed C7 with an attorney for around $350. Now all I see are lawyers at $1K -$2K in my area. Does anyone have a suggestion for a reasonably priced, good attorney in my area? If you do, please private message me (so we don't post their names on the forum).

Here is my situation (if that helps). I have around $25K in CC debt. I am currently unemployed and working on getting unemployment but as of now, no income / savings. I've been staying with family rent free until I can get back on my feet.

Any thoughts / questions / advice you all may have will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks again for a great forum!!!!!! You are basically what keeps me sane at this point in time.

I can't give any experience on the pro se part and I live in SW Washington so can't advise on the attorney either. If my circumstances had been a bit simpler I probably would have filed pro se, but business complications and relocating for work made that a bit overwhelming for me.

Based on the information you've provided, I'd say you are looking a bit judgment proof at the moment. I'd advise you to use a strategy of issuing debt validation and cease and desist letters to get some relief from the collectors, but I'd hold off on filing until you are employed and risk garnishment or seizure.

Use the time between now and then to educate yourself and start working on the paperwork. If you file now and your circumstances don't improve or get worse (like a major medical problem, etc), you can really be stuck.
