    Expense question for entertainment.

What is an acceptable amount to put for entertainment? I probably spend more than I should in the summer and less in the winter so should I average it? Did enyone get questioned by the trustee about their amount? What did you guys put for an amount? Thanks in advance for the answers and the great info on this site.

Line 9 (Recreation, clubs, and entertainment, newspapers, magazines, etc.) on my Schedule J was $50.00. The trustee didn't even question it.

As with all of your Schedule J variable expenses (electric, heating fuel, home repairs, entertainment, etc.) you should take the full year of expenses and divide by 12 to come up with a monthly dollar amount

I put $35. $20 for netflix each month and $15 for my hubby's online game...

That said, we honestly can't afford to spend more than that, so that was our honest answer, and the only number that would really "fit" into our budget...

0% payback to unsecured creditors, 56 payments down, 4 to go....

It's a "reasonableness" standard. Is your amount "reasonable"? Your guess is as good as anybody else's. For a family of four, one trip to the movies per month is going to run $60 -- that's without the solid gold popcorn they sell for $6 a bag or those $3 small sodas. If the kids play any sports it can easily be $300 /ea. per year. Your lawyer will know your judge's threshold limits. Around here, we can get away with $150 / mo for a family of four. You're pushing it at $200, but if you're under the median, it makes little difference anyway.
Pay no attention to anything I post. I graduated last in my class from a fly-by-night law school that no longer exists; I never studied or went to class; and I only post on internet forums when I'm too drunk to crawl away from the computer.

For a family of 6, we ended up at $200/month when we got done amending things.

I had $100 for line 9 as an individual, plus $130 for cable/internet. The trustee saw 3 mos of bank statements, which showed Tivo, AMC theatres, and Netflix, as well as some Amazon Digital and iTunes charges and a museum and zoo memberships. I'm under median, no asset.

Around here, the cable/internet is pretty much the standard price. Because of a 2 year FIOS initial subscriber package deal, it even includes HBO/Showtime so it's a little lower than standard, actually.
