What a weight off my shoulders this was!!
Filed 12/15 pro se and had my 341 today. It was very simple, maybe lasted two minutes.
We handed over our driver's licenses and SS cards, they asked for our address, if we read and understood the bankruptcy paperwork, if our schedules were correct, if we gave anything away in the last year greater than $2,000, and if there were any changes that needed to be made. I forgot about a checking account that we had (at the same CU that held our mortgage, we don't do our normal banking with them) with a $5 balance in it and that our tax return would be about $1800 instead of the $1500 I estimated. The trustee said to not even worry about amending our schedules for that (our tax return will be exempted).
He asked who helped me fill out the paperwork and I said I did it all on my own and he said he was very impressed and everything was very well organized.
I'm actually VERY glad I didn't go with a lawyer. About EVERY case with a lawyer there the trustee needed to ask them for additional information that hadn't been provided. One lawyer had a client who did write ANYTHING down under personal property... how does a lawyer not catch that?? Obviously he owns SOMETHING. About 50% of the people didn't have their tax returns turned in, a couple didn't bring their SS cards, one couple didn't write down that they are seeking 25K in a lawsuit...
Luckily our trustee was AMAZING, so nice, thanked us for doing a good job with our paperwork and concluded our meeting.
Thanks everyone, now waiting 60 days!
