    Case closed?

    Hi all,

Our Ch7 BK was discharged on December 3rd and Pacer lists the status as "Case Closed" as of 12/3/09. Does this mean our case is officially closed, or just that our discharge has been processed?

The reason I ask is this: at our 341 back in October, our trustee told us that he would likely be distributing funds from our tax refund. He said that we would be required to send the check to him and he would distribute funds as necessary. He said to expect a letter from him after the first of the year.

I know it's still early, but we haven't received anything thus far. I've read a lot on here that when your status says closed, you're free and clear. I guess I can wait a bit longer, but obviously the refund would come in very handy for us.

Would be nice if someone shed some light on this. I would also think that if it's closed, it's a done deal. If you had a lawyer, I would ask him/her about it, too.

My pacer status says discharged, but it's still open most likely pending my 09 refund.

Yeah, I thought that Pacer would say "Discharged" and wouldn't say "Closed" until after the trustee had our refund. However, the status was changed to closed almost immediately after our discharge, which is why I'm dubious.

I wish we had a lawyer to ask, but unfortunately we filed pro se. :-/

Well, apparently all I needed to was bring it up; we got a letter from the trustee in the mail today! Meh, oh well, they only get to take 2/3 of it after EIC. Small price to pay for being debt free!
