    Some questions, bank acct, bills...

I am planning to file within a month or so, just trying to get together some money for the attorney. I am still paying most of my cards, but now I am going to stop so I can pay the attorney fees.

I had a free consultation and forgot to ask a few questions. I am filing myself, not with my spouse since most of the credit cards are in my name & before we got married. The lawyer said that is fine, just anything that we cosigned together he is still responsible for. My question is I am on unemployment I am ASSUMING I can use that money to pay utilities, food, etc (plus the bills that are in BOTH of our names, since I don't want to ruin his credit)? Should I stop my husbands direct deposit into my account (it's only my name on it) and have him get his own or should he just cash his check? I have a mortgage & utilities bills I have to pay so how does that work? I also have a leased car which I plan on keeping, do I still continue to pay that, how does that work?

I would say that your husbnd's money being directly deposited into your account would be fine. You need to pay your bills somehow, you know? As long as you can show that his money is being used for bills it should be fine. The only thing that I would assume would send up a red flag is if you made a large deposit and then all of a sudden you spent that money on something useless.

And I would say if you plan on keeping the car, keep paying towards it. It will only hurt you if you stop payments. That's just my 2 cents.
