Will AAA Charge More for Auto Policy?

I have a Visa card that has my auto insurer's logo on it. The account is handled by BofA, so it's a BofA card, regardless of the company logo. There must be a partnershp agreement of some kind between BofA and the auto insurance company.

I have stopped paying on that Visa card (and others) and plan to file for Ch. 7.

Will my insurer cancel my auto policy?
    Will they raise my premiums?
Will I go on as before with the same auto insurance?

I am assuming the auto insurance company is a separate legal entity from the financial entity who issued the card. And the auto insurer is not a creditor and won't be listed on any BK documents. But the fact remains that that credit card will be listed in the BK.

No one has said a thing when I have called in with other questions about the auto policy. I was notified the account was closed last week sometime. I had missed two payments at the time (and am now behind on three).

    They won't cancel it.

    Yes that is possible.

    Possibly.

The rate you pay for insurance is somewhat based on your credit report so yes it is possible you'll see an increase in premium after bankruptcy.

Interesting. The 6-month premium on my policy renewal that I just got notice of yesterday was higher than the previous renewal (which was before I stopped paying CC's). The difference? $1.00.

In some states credit is not allowed to be used as a factor when determining rates for auto insurance, in others it is allowed. This is one of those state specific laws. Would you believe there is still a state that doesn't require a person to carry auto insurance? There may be others but New Hampshire doesn't.

I've used the same insurance company for years and may rates did not increase due to my bankruptcy. I think my renewal this six months is actually lower than the last.
