Is it OK to ask the court when my case will close?

I am always feeling like a PIA to people and this is no exception.

If you are a 'No Asset' case, you may well close the same day you are discharged. But it may come several days later. The case will be closed when all the 'behind the scenes' administrative details of your case are finished.

If it drags on more than a couple of months, then by all means call the court and talk to your case-worker. And don't feel like a PIA. Dealing with the public, i.e., you, is part of their jobs.

    Good luck to you!

I called the bk clerk about ten days after the case should have been discharged and she politlely told me, we can discharge this today and also close the case. A call won't hurt at all. Good luck and best wishes.

I called today to give them a little poke. The clerk was very nice. I just checked Pacer and I am "case closed".

So as far as it goes I have just completed a successful CH7. It could not have gone better.

Without this forum I would have been a mess. I took comfort here more than once. Some good folks here......Thank You

Nothing wrong with a poke as long as it's polite.

I did get my "Hampster Dance" and I enjoyed it.

As for tonight I am going to have one extra apple martini!

When I wake tomorrow I will need to focus on my new start. I will continue to visit this place. I cannot offer more than my experience but I will always remember how I found relief from my worst fears here!

              PEACE be with you all.......

Thanks AngelinaCat! Based on your recommendation, I called our case administrator and asked how long before we can expect closing. She called me back and said it was held up because something didn't get processed when it should of. I went on Pacer after our conversation and this is what it said:

Proof of Service filed by XXXXXXX XXXXXXXXX on behalf of Deutsche Bank National Trust Company as Trustee for HARBORVIEW 2006-14. (related documents 20 Order re:Motion for Relief from Stay) (XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX) (Entered: 01/05/2010)

She said our case should close tomorrow. Can you tell me what this means? I'm assuming it has to do with a Motion for Relief of Stay for a house, which we didn't contest.

Hi SWN: Yes, it does relate to the Relief From Stay.

Whether you will close tomorrow, I cannot say. Tomorrow is Wednesday. If you don't close by Thursday afternoon, call again Friday about 3:00 PM and ask.

Good luck to you. Happy Healing New Year!

Well, I decided to check Pacer again on a hunch and our case is now CLOSED!!!

Thanks for the suggestion to call and check with the case administrator. I know it's just an administrative thing but, for me, it's a personal closure. Now we are just waiting to see what happens with our properties. I'm so ready for this all to be over and get on with our "simplier", debt-free life. I can't thank those on this forum enough for all the information and support given. Especially those who have been discharged and closed, yet still contribute on a daily basis in order to help others through this life-changing ordeal. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Maybe I should call the court here too. We were discharged in October and it still says Awaiting Closure on PACER. hmmm..
