    Car insurance deductable HELP!!

    Hi
I refuse to say "what next" we have not filed as of yet we want to wait til late spring......welllllllll.....we retained a laywer........but I have a question.

As luck would have it...we were going to Finally catch up on our house payment this month, we are one payment behind....yesterday my husband who has NEVER had an accident, had a fender bender, our deductable is $1000 because I wanted a smaller monthly insurance payment.

this is my question..the front bumper needs serious repair, and now I have to pay out this deductable, when the trustee looks over my bank statements , when we get to our 341, will he kill us on this large withdrawal?

we need the car obviously and our only option is to payup. I plan to have everythign ready from the police report to the insurance papers to the final repair bill and the receipt for the deductable.

do you think he'll give us grief over this, the roads here were ice covered and yesterday many many accidents were happening.

I may have to delay filing because of this ....I cannot make that catch up house payment now......hopefully will he/she understand this dilema?

this is Makin Me Crazy anymore!! every thing thta can go wrong has........thank you for any replies in advance......you folks arethe best

Bumper isn't really necessary to pass safety inspection in any state. If it is dragging, I'd just take it off and run the car without one for a while. Then again I drive a beat up 19 year old car so image isn't all that important to me.

No the Trustee is not going to give you a hard time on repairing your vehicle because you have all the documentation to show the damage, the repair and the payment for the repair. Just keep a record of everything like you plan. Take photos to show the damage (the Trustee probably will not even ask IMO).
      Filed CH 7 9/30/2008
      Discharged Jan 5, 2009! Closed Jan 18, 2009

Before you file with your insurance you might want to go have a body shop give you an estimate. I don't know how bad it is but if it is only the front bumper it may be less than $1000. If it cost less than your deductible or about the same then it would be pointless to file the claim.

Usually, here in Florida, we had to get three estimates for the insurance company. But here in our town, there is a 'preferred' body shop that the insurance companies like. You might have that situation there. But I agree with gamecockfan, if the estimate comes in at $1000.00 or lower, I wouldn't report it, unless your state laws require it.

Once again...Thank you all for your replies.....I was a wreck!
I took it to the place my insurance said...about 5 minutes from my house.so far the damage is 1380 BUT he wouldn't try to open the hood ..because he wasn't sure it would reclose.I want to thank you all,,, and the photo idea was wonderful!!!!!!!! I never gave that a thought......the car goes in Monday and he said about a week...thank goodness a rental will be supplied......I was terrified this might be hard to explain to a trustee......THANK YOU ALL AGAIN SO VERY VERY MUCH! its redeeming my faith in people....there are actually people like you who are willing to take the time to help strangers.........You guys and ladies really rock
