Filing Tomorrow and Need Advice on Repo Man!!!

    Hi Everyone,

I am 3 months behind on one of my vehicles, and the bank has really turned up the heat on trying to repo it. I should have my case number tomorrow, and wanted to know what I need to do to get the repo man/private investigator off my back. My attorney said to call the bank tomorrow with the case number, but how quickly will that get the repo man to stop calling and coming by the house? Will calling the repo man directly and giving him the case number get him to cease?

Thanks so much for any input you can provide!

If they contact you after filing they will be violating the automatic stay.

Follow the advice of the attorney. Notify the bank of your case number and they should notify the repo man.

This is true, but I am surprised the "Repo man" comes by and does not repo as well as three months and they wish to repo? There must be more to this story as, have they sued you? They don't want your car, they want your money on the note you signed. A harassing "Repo man" does not compute. Can you explain more on this? In any case, tell the bank your Bk numbers and they cannot repo this car until you are discharged. 'Hub

Thanks for your responses. Angelina, I have had a rough history with the bank over the last year. A few times this year, I've gone 2 months late and the bank would allow me to make a partial payment and defer the difference. I guess this time they are done with it, plus I haven't returned any of their calls. The repo man comes by, but we don't answer the door and the car is garaged. He also is calling my wife's office, and has told the receptionist that he doesn't want to have to come up there because my wife won't call him back.

Hope that helps explain things a little better. Thanks!

well, if you have the repo man's phone number, the safest thing for you to do is to call the bank AND the repo man. this way you won't have to worry about how long the bank takes to inform the repo man.
