    Trading vehicle.. leather interior luxury?

I just posted this in the exemptions folder, but meant to put it here since we're supposed to be filing chapter 7... I hope it's okay to put it here.

We are going to try and trade in my van. We have to at least refinance it b/c the loan is through the credit union where we have a visa. So, we thought why not try to get a newer van.

Anyway, I REALLY want leather interior. If I can get the next model up in my van with leather interior and have the same monthly payments that I have right now... does it really matter if the stupid thing has leather interior? I have no intentions of getting any other bells and whistles.. like DVD player or sunroof, etc. Plus, we're not filing until July... so really - is the leather a no no?? We're talking about a 2008 or 2009 (used) Honda Odyssey EX-L. I have a 2006 Odyssey EX with a $427 payment and that is under the "max" payment allowed in my state.

The trustee isn't going to be going over your window sticker from your vehicle to determine if the options you chose are luxuries or not. Personally all of my vehicles have leather interiors. I have a very long commute and spend a lot of time in my vehicle.

Several years ago, I figured out the three things that I will never again scrimp or try and save money by going cheap on; (1) Shoes... Wear a good quality pair of shoes like Rockports all day and your back, legs and feet will thank you. (2) Vehicle Seats... Drive two plus hours a day in a cheap seat vs a quality leather seat. You'll save enough on chiropractor bills to pay for the option. (3) Mattress... Sleep on a Simmons or a Sealy after the first night of peaceful sleep you will never go back.

Everything else, I'll buy the lowest priced item but those have to be right. I only wish I had discovered it before I was forty and already had aches and pains.

Hi kailansmom04: I deleted the duplicate post. I agree with Bell30656 on shoes, car seats and mattresses. The trustee won't go over your sticker items.

      Good luck!

the trustee will have no way to know it has leather.. I wouldn't worry about it.
