That's the only time that ownership of the debt occurs.

I don't think it means anything in the big picture.

Ok, whew! I do believe I am WAY overthinking this. Thank GOODNESS for this forum. That's all I have to say. That said, I learned a long time ago to assume the worst and prepare for it. :-)

That's the way I've looked at my situation. As a worst case deal.... what I can expect is.........

Anything better than that will be a nice surprise and make me happy and financially better off. I'm counting on getting bruised up pretty bad by the trustee.

Here in Georgia most civil suit paperwork is served by the deputy sheriffs. It is really hard not to open the door for them when they come a calling.

I spoke to them. They said they had reviewed my credit report, and made the determination to close my account based on what they saw (that I was missing payments with other credit card companies, I presume). I think the letter they sent means nothing. In fact, the person I spoke to used the term 'suspended' rather than 'closed' (the term used in the letter). Whatever. They will happily reactivate if I bring the account current. When I read the letter, I interpreted 'closed' to mean they had charged it off. That wasn't it at all. As you say, that will happen later, if not pre-empted by my filing Ch. 7.
