Applying for and receiving state benefits while in BK? Anyone know

My husband and I are officially in the middle of the BK process. Our 341 is in a few weeks. We were recently made aware that we would qualify for some state assistance: childcare, food stamps etc.

Does anyone know if applying for and receiving this assistance during a BK case is a problem??? Does the trustee even know we applied for it----after we filed of course??

it should be ok. public assistance is generally exempt anyway, plus after you filed even if they weren't exempt before, they are yours (assuming you are in a ch7 and not ch13).

i would say, go ahead and file for them.
