Just stay away from the pickled pigs feet, hog's jowls, chitlins, succotash and hominy.

My MIL takes corn meal, salt and adds enough hot water to barely moisten, then scoops up enough to squeeze her fingers around (they look like little corn cobs) and fries em that way. She calls them Hotwater Corn Bread.

My dear mother used to drink corn bread crumpled up in a cold glass of butter milk.

Another dish that's a comfort dish: big mess of fresh green beans, garlic, chopped onions and a ham hock. I cook with onions and garlic in just about everything, and there's always a hot pepper lurking somewhere. We literally drink Tabasco sauce by the gallons!

Anyway, Minny, whether its a pot of beans or a fancy smancy prime rib dinner, you'll be cookin and eatin in your home this holiday season. And you just can not put a price tag on that!

I haven't been here in awhile and let me just start by say Minny, May God Bless You and I pray that you receive a hundred fold for your trouble. I admire your strength and your continued support to take time out of your daily life to help others, such as myself to go through our situation. Okay, you guys are talking about some serious food here. Being from the south, we call them ho cakes. The fried cornbread on the oven. I think I might make some tonight for dinner. Thanks for the ideas.

Grew up in Ohio (Ky parents), lived in SC and Ga for almost 15 years, and now back in KY.

Learned to appreciate Southern Cooking - cheese grits, fried cornbread, collards, sweet potato pie, etc.

But never could go the "chitlin" way..........

But also love my steaks, shrimp, lobster, etc.....

          YUM!! YUM!!!

Yes, I'm better!!! My appetite is back......

Welcome back kclayton74............. have you been discharged yet or did they put you in a Chapter 13 plan?

            Minny,

I checked PACER and it doesn't show that I have been discharged. When I called the office, they stated that I'm finished and they faxed me the report showing the monies due back to me. However, they are still deducting the money out of my check. I just wish it would stop. How long do I have to wait for them to stop taking the deductions? Well, do know that I'm grateful that this is almost over because, boy some have it worse than orders. Should I continue calling my Trustee office or just wait it out? Thanks for your reply.

It's good to be back! Thanks!

Were you in a 13 on a payroll deduction?

If you are finished, the Trustee needs to send down the order to stop payroll deductions. Anymoney that is took out over and above what you are supposed to pay will be returned too you.

Sounds like paperwork is really behind and they need to get it caught up.

Check back with the clerks office in a couple of days....

              Keep us posted,

I've read where it can take a few months to get everything finalized.

I know this is no consolation-but try to think about the $$ you'll be getting back as a forced savings.

Minny, I was in a 13. I guess I'm anxious because, my car is just about finish. Put a whole lot of money for repairs over the years and over 350,000 miles. It has served it's purpose. Me and the little ones (d-Morgan-9, s-Hardy-7 and Crunchie-5yr Shih tzu) need transportation.

StaciMM, Yes, I've thought about it as a savings. My 1988 Toyota Camary is on its last leg and right now, I'm catching Marta or a ride with co-workers. I will use that money to get another car. They are in about, 1572.00 in debt to me so far. Do you guys think I will be able to get a dependable car for about 2000 - 2500?

Contact the Trustees office and let them know the situation, I'm sure they will look into it and try to get your funds back to you..... especially since your plan is now finished.

Yes you can get a good running car for about 2500. It may not be a caddi but it will run..... take someone with you that knows something about vehicles to check it out for you.

check craigslist.org and find your city. you can get cars direct from people there. if you dont know about cars then do the following things tel help ensure its ok:

                      - compare it to other cars prices
                      - check it against kbb.com prices
                      - drive that car at least 3 separate times - early morning and late night.
                      - drive the same kind of care that is also being sold elsewhere to get the feel.
                      - find someone that you feel trust with.
                      - call and ask questions several times and see how they react.
                      - before you decide to buy it have a mechanic check it for under $70.

after doing all this then you will know a lot more. if it doesnt feel right then move on

Hi Minnie I hear you I am sorry it has come to that.. I know it must truly be difficult to go through this. I don't know what your case is but I can hear in your reaction that you are bitter and angry most likely I would feel the same way. All I say is maybe it might be even more pain and misery to keep going through all this court stuff.. Usually those with all the power win anyway. Just as a though I would think it might be better to lick your wounds and go on from there. With a positive look on aquiring just the neccesities in life. If you knew me you would see I don't have much but I am happy I therefore am not in a position to lose much when it gets tougher. Beside we are not truly valued by what we have it is what we are that is important to God. Again I don't know your situation but I see in life the struggle people go through to acquire stuff, aren't we all going to lose it all when we die anyway? The struggle is really futile a waste of time. A few nice things is all we need.. Sometime to be happy all it takes is a re-evaluation of our outlook on what it is we need.. This is why I say don't grab for things it might make you more miserable than you are now.. Unless of course someone stole your items from you and want to get it back.. Just my input I hope it makes you feel better..

                            Redeagle,
If you will go back and read my post you will see that my home was "seized by the Trustee" and auctioned off due to "3-clerical errors" that the title company and mortgage company made 8 years ago doing the paperwok on my home. Was not found until I had to claim bankruptcy.

I did NOTHING WRONG - "professionals" that were paid for their services caused me to loose my home and my entire investment of almost $90,000 BECAUSE OF THEIR LOUSY PAPERWORK.

Instead of my Chapter 7 being a simple - no asset case it turned into a Chapter 7 "nightmare" for 18 months.....

My attorney covered his OWN butt and did not fight for me, the Trustee and Auctioneer lined their pockets, and the Mortgage Company took no loss (the got paid from the auction).

I'M THE ONE THAT TOOK THE FINANCIAL LOSS & PROPERTY LOSS because of these people and their actions.

I am not a person of hatred or vengence. I have never in my lifetime had the "urge" to sue anyone. BUT THIS TIME I AM MAKING AN EXCEPTION.

Professonal Companies that make a PROFITT off their own "clerical errors" at the expense of the people that hire them (and cause extreme harm - fianancially, physically, emotionally, and mentally) to an innocent party (me) - DO NOT DESERVE THE RIGHT TO WALK AWAY WITH A PROFITT WITHOUT BEING PUNISHED FOR THEIR ACTIONS............

                            I am not a bitter woman - I AM A "MAD" ONE!!!!!

These "PROFESSIONALS" have caused me 18 months of PURE HELL.............because of their "clerical errors".....:
                            1. THEY CAUSED ME TO LOOSE MY HOME IN A SIMPLE CHAPTER 7 - NO ASSET CASE.
                            2. MY HOME WAS SEIZED AND SOLD AT AUCTION
                            3. I WAS FORCED TO HAVE TO BUY IT BACK AT "FULL VALUE" AGAIN - in order to keep my retirement home.'
                            4. THEY CAUSED ME TO LOOSE A $90,000 INVESTMENT THRU NO FAULT OF MY OWN with no way to recoup my losses or buy another home.
                            5. THEY CAUSED ME 18 MONTHS OF TEARS, PANIC ATTACKS, ASTHMA ATTACKS, DOCTOR BILLS, AND SICKNESS DUE TO STRESS.

And NOW - SOMEONE TELLS ME - "BE NICE" -?????????

I am thankful for all the God does for me, I thank him for friends, moral support from this forum, and all the strength that he has given me the last 18 months to endure all that I have gone thru.

Fortunately, God still put me in a position where I was able to buy my home back and for this I'm very thankful!

YES, my home is a "materialistic thing" and I CAN SEE WHERE YOUR COMING FROM -

BUT ALL OF THIS "SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED" to me or anyone else.

"PROFESSIONALS" are hired for their "expertise and their experience" - NOT THEIR ABILITY TO MAKE ERRORS!!!

NOW, let me ask you something!!!!! - If I had been in a car wreck and severly injured thru the fault of someone else (say a DUI) would you still say 'LEAVE IT ALONE'???? DO NOT SUE?????? Knowing financially I could never take care of myself again..... and be at the mercy of whoever could and would take care of me!!!! Let that DUI driver walk away and say "that's okay - you made a mistake!!!!

Professionals that are PAID need to be held LIABLE for their STUPIDITY, LACK OF TRAINING, AND THEIR ERRORS THEY MAKE.........

They should NEVER be allowed to "profitt from their errors and walk away".......

If you don't agree with me, THAT'S FINE.....

I CAN SEE WHERE YOUR COMING FROM - and ordinarily I would agree with you. BUT not in this case.

                            Just my opinion,

                              PS.
I am not a wealthy person, nor have I ever been...... I've worked hard the last 40 years and many years lived from paycheck to paycheck.....
I drive a 1987 Chrysler and live a relatively moderate lifestyle.
                              If I can't afford - I don't buy....
Medical bills, funeral bills, and care of an invalid elderly parent in my home for 4 years pretty much forced me into bankruptcy..... it was not due to being extravagant in my lifestyle.

I do not diliberately HARM anyone, physically, emotionally, mentally, or financially.

Basically I would give you the shirt off my back if you needed it worse then me...

                              Just a thought,

StaciMM, I just realized we are neighbors. I live in Dekalb County and work downtown Atlanta. Nice meeting you. I was afraid to here that it takes long sometimes. We will see and I will keep everyone posted.

BKfiler, I love going on Craigslist. I'm there everyday. I will continue to look but boy catching that bus and then the train (with the winter season) is hard especially with the kids complaining. But we make good fun out of it. There is so much I can be thankful for and having, like shelter and clothes for our bodies. We are not homeless and I can only imagine. Okay, thanks for the advice and I will continue to press forward.
