I have a friend, as they say . . .
I have a friend in VA who is starting to think about BK. She and her partner live together (no civil union since not legal there, and of course, no US recognition). Her partner's mother in Nevada always needs financial help from them to pay her bills. They both help her out.
Would my friend's support of her partner's mother be allowed as an expense, even though she isn't an "in-law" in the legal sense? If not, and she did file, would there be a problem with the $$ she's given to her partner's mother in the last couple of year - like would the Trustee demand it back?
