Meeting was at 10am, we were at our car by 10:15am
The guy that went before us had no house, and just a 09 Honda that he was behind on and his credit card debt. He filed bankruptcy 12 years ago and was back in again. The only thing she wanted to know was how did he get into this situation. He just said "credit cards" and she asked, "did it just creep up on you?" and he said "yeah" LOL. Anyhow that was it and he was released.
Then it was our turn. They asked us our regular info. She asked if we sold anything over $200 in the past two years. I said yes I sold my camera for $300 and bought groceries and prescriptions with it. She asked if we were owed any money. I said "Yes child support, but I'll never see that." And she laughed She asked how we got into debt. I said house repairs and credit card debt. She said that we owed last year on taxes and said "Oh that's because you cashed out some 401k's...to help pay for hardships?" I said yes, and because my husband was out of work due to knee surgery. She said, oh ok and wrote down knee surgery on the top of the paper. And then she said thank you and we left!
I overheard another trustee telling people they'd be discharged in approx 3 months. So I guess that's the average time right now.
