I have a rather silly question, that I had not thought of before, how long after you stop charging on your credit card can you file bankruptcy. Does a certain amount of time have to lapse before you can do it, so it is not considered fraud or something! Thanks!

The rule of thumb is to stop using the cards for at least six months before you plan to file.
You should stop paying on them too, unless you have an unusually large purchase amount that you need to pay on as you let the debt 'age out'. In a case like that, for at least three or four months make the minimum payment, then stop and save that money for your lawyer, if you choose to hire one.
