I did sign something saying that I had it and was pledging it. I had no idea at the time that I was doing that. We never had a discussion about security. They had me sign a bunch of papers and I did not notice that one. We never talked about specific items so I don't know where they got the Sony TV from.

I'm still a little confused about what I need to do at this point, if anything.

Did you say you have filed? If not, give the TV back to them and it is not a secured note. Find that paperwork. It is yellow tissue with nice itty-bitty words on it. Get a microscope and read what they may have done. It may be breakable. They are tricky. 'Hub

He never had the TV that they are saying he pledged. But, apparently, he signed something saying that he did have it.
Pay no attention to anything I post. I graduated last in my class from a fly-by-night law school that no longer exists; I never studied or went to class; and I only post on internet forums when I'm too drunk to crawl away from the computer.

Sounds like the same thing they were doing with the ARM's in the broker offices. Over and over again as a processor I would note that people simply sign they do not read. They do not understand all the jargon and they THINK the broker is their agent representing them and they can TRUST them. The lending industry is full of sharks, they should be held accountable for not disclousing in a layman term as well as the legal forms. You simply should not have to have an attorney in your pocket on every darn purchase. I hope this w orks out for you.
