Ch 7 Discharged! There has to be a way to get a auto loan??

I live in Indiana. I am 29 and my wife and I had just gotten over a Ch. 7 due to her medical bills. The lawyer told me that I had to file with her because if I did not do so they could come after me and garnish my wages too! So foolishly I did and I went ahead and thew in some bills I had and my credit cards! Hoping it was not a bad idea, I am begining to think it was. Anyway, our Ch 7 was discharged last Oct. and I have papers saying so. But it has not been updated in our credit reports. Our car is about toast, and I was looking at a 2007 truck for $22,000. All we have is rent, and I tried to get the truck myself and keep getting declined!! I make $50,000 a year myself, and my wife makes about $30,000 a year too! So obviously I can well aford a $400-600 truck payment! Any suggestions?

If the only bills you have are rent and you make a combined $80,000, you should easily be able to save up for a used car to pay with cash, while continuing to save for your dream truck.

    Just an idea.

Well, you had no choice. If you filed, you had to list all of your creditors.

Give it a few weeks and your credit report should update.

Try the Cap1 blank check program if you can't find a local lender.

okay, will look into that, I tried all over town and nothin. A lot suggested getting a secured credit card for a year and they said my credit rating should got up 100pts by a year! One could only hope. I will look into Cap1 thing. Thanks.

I could be wrong, but I believe the Cap 1 blank check program is only good when buying from a dealer....Just so you know.

Pull your reports from annualcreditreport.com and then get to the rebuilding credit forum...we are having a good time there

Well got denied from Cap 1 too! I don't mind paying a slightly higher interests rate at 15% if needed, but it just seems like I am at a lost cause, and pretty much have to go with a secure card and build it up for a year. =(
