Notice of Appearance question

I checked Pacer this morning and saw that there was a Notice of Appearance (and wanting to know the status of the case) notice for GE Money Bank for an Old Navy card that I had over a year ago, used once, and paid it off (never heard from them again after I paid it off). I hadn't included them on the Matrix, because, quite frankly, I forgot I had a card with them. Why would they be interested in my case when I had a zero balance with the card?

I had a notice of appearance from my car loan, and once I reaffirmed the car, that went away. So, I wasn't worried about them. But this one has me raising my eyebrows.

The same happened to me. I called them up and told them I didn't owe them any money. They said they would remove it from Pacer, and within an hour or so, it was gone. I do beleive AngelinaCat gave me info. about this agency. I think the man's name was Ramesh Singh, or something like that too. I checked other cases and they too had the same posting on Pacer of Notice of Appearance. Don't worry..........call them!!

That's exactly the same name! Perfect!

The only issue is I don;t have a clue as to my account number, contact info, etc. Will they need my account number?

No. Just tell them your bk number........you won't get to talk to Ramesh Singh. An assistant will talk to you, and remove it just like that. You don't need the old acct. no.

Is this all even necessary? A notice of appearance just allows the creditor to be notified should certain events happen in the case. For example, if the Chapter 7 turned into an asset case, the Trustee would send notice to everyone that it was an asset case (everyone that's on the matrix or entered an appearnce and request for notice).

Now, the key would be, if you did become an asset case, and they filed a Claim... then you could object to the claim if it were inaccurate.

Otherwise... I don't understand the need to call someone who only entered an appearance. Someone please educate me.

My info. came from AngelinaCat, and it worked. I got piece of mind quickly. No harm done at all, but my satisfaction of it in this way. Thank you AngelinaCat!!!!!

Actually, when I saw that same notice of appearance on Pacer, I contacted my attorney who told me that this guy is the laughing stalk of the BK Attorney's Bar. He seems to file hundreds of these Notice of Appearances in random cases for no reason. He means nothing and he can be ignored. No one knows what his reasoning is, but that's all he ever does is files a Notice of Appearance and then nothing. In fact, if you search his name on Pacer (I wouldn't if you are paying for Pacer, I get it for free through my job), he has filed in thousands of cases.
