Finally, I am filing next week. Now what?

I have waited this moment several months.

Now I am going to file ch7 next week. I provided all documents and confirmed the list of the creditors, etc. last week.

I wanted to review all the documents, e.g., means test and scheduels, one more time but the paralegal told me that I need to just rely on the Attorney.

What would happen after filing bk?

The court sends me a copy of some documents to sign on?
Can I have a chance to review the documents, and amend them if there are any wrong information?

Can anyone share what would happen after filing bk?

Did you sign the filing papers? It sounds like you have not.

It should go something like this...

• You decide to file BK
• You find and retain an attorney
• They give you a load of paperwork to fill out
• You put together all the paperwork they ask for
• You turn it in to the attorney
• The attorney and/or paralegal puts together the entire BK petition with your information
• You attorney calls you to come to his/her office to read and sign the petition
• You correct anything that is wrong
• The attorney files your BK petition
• You receive a date for your 341 meeting. Around 30 days after filing
• You attend 341 meeting
• If you are determined a no asset case you join "60" club
• If there are no objections your case is discharged approx. 60 days later

Of course you would have paid the attorney in full before filing. You would also need to complete the before and after filing courses.

Your attorney, if he is any good, should have explained all of this and more to you.
