    Discharging Legal Fees

Has anyone had experience in getting legal fees discharged in chapter 7 not related to the bankruptcy filing. Mine is to a divorce attorney and everything I have researched has said that fees owed to your own attorney are dischargeable. I am not liable for attorney's fees for my ex.

I know this attorney will stop representing me which is fine. The case is pretty much over and I have all the necessary files.

Yes, legal fees can certainly be discharged... I think that's why bk attorneys want to be paid up front...

Yes, because by operation of law, their fees are discharged. Expect in a Chapter 13, where there fees enjoy the entitlement of priority unsecured debt, and they can put some or even most of their fee into the Plan.
      Chapter 7 (No Asset/Non-Consumer) Filed (Pro Se) 7/08 (converted from Chapter 13 - 2/10)
Status: (Auto) Discharged and Closed! 5/10

And in cash I might add.
I am a Pennsylvania Eastern and Middle District Bankruptcy, FDCPA, FCRA and Foreclosure Defense attorney, information I post is based on experience in these districts. It is not legal counsel, consider it friendly counsel.
