NOT! The meeting lasts all of 2 minutes and just basic questions are asked which are yes or no. Creditors very rarely show up. I mean RARELY! Possibly if they are local credit unions just confirming your reaffirming a debt but thats it. Don't sweat it cause in the end you'll wonder why you wasted all those sleepness nights over nothing.
cp: I felt exactly like you did before our 341. I hate court houses, police stations, anything legal like. I was paralyzed in fear of what was to come. Too bad I did not find this forum before our 341. It would have put my mind at ease. Surprisingly, after having all that anxiety, the night before I was able to sleep well. I think I just finally wore myself out.
As it turns out a creditor did show up to our 341. It was a family member's lawyer. No other creditors showed for anyone else having their 341's that day-just us. It only extended our 341 by a few minutes. He grilled me about our means test. Our lawyer was there to help.
As back2school said, unless you have a disgruntled family (as we did), I wouldn't worry about it. It is unlikely a creditor will show. I know it is hard to do but try to relax and not think about it. The 341 is actually much easier than you might think. In our district they were doing about 5 of them every 20 minutes or so. Hang in there.

It's like worrying the night before a test or something.
What worries me is the seemingly looooooong wait between filing and discharge. Sometimes I wish it could all be done in a day or two. I have no patience for waiting!Well, I did. Every one of 'em. Mostly I remember the last one. The wild finish. A guy standing on a station platform in the rain with a comical look in his face because his insides have been kicked out. -Rick

I just keep feeling like we've missed something. I don't know just paranoid i'm sure but I just keep thinking day after day that theres something missing then of course theres the whole ordeal of trying to find a house to lease and feeling like who in the world is going to lease a place to us after this and it just goes on and on..... our lawyer is going to try to keep us here until March but I am worried that we are going to have to leave earlier. I started packing stuff up a long time ago.
My stomach just hurts non stop! I know, I am sure you've all been here.

The "what ifs" seem to be an intrinsic part of BK for many of us. Don't let them beat you down and try to eliminate emotion. Think logically. What if you were a home owner and needed tenants? Along comes honest, debt-free cp2010. Cp2010's credit may not be the best. Well, this appears to be a growing trend. Cp2010 has more than sufficient income to pay monthly rental fees and has a check-in-hand for the security deposit. Would you rent to cp2010? I surely hope so!
My sister and her husband experienced job loss, foreclosure, and filed BK. They located a fabulous rental house offered by a private landlord. They were honest about their financial situation and poor credit. They were fearful they wouldn't be approved. Their fears proved unwarranted. They successfully rented the house!
So many of us get wrapped up in worst-case scenarios only to find they didn't deserve our time and worry.
Hang in there!*Filed: September 23, 2009 *341: November 4, 2009 *Discharged: January 4, 2010 *Closed: January 20, 2010

cp2010 - We own several rentals and are desperately trying to keep them out of foreclosure (as it seems half the country is trying to do). My husband was showing a house to a potential renter and the renter kind of hung his head and said his credit wasn't that great. My husband said "Don't worry about it...our's isn't either". They both had a good laugh. He gave us his deposit and had a new place for his family to live. Bottom line, like HakunaMatata said, a good job and money for the deposit will go a long way. Our country is in this together. There will be plenty of people who will understand your situation. Hang in there and think positively!Filed Non-Consumer Chapter 7: 07/31/2009
